Congratulations, Prof. Dana Higeons, Outstanding Library Faculty Member

The Excellence in Teaching Awards are presented to faculty who demonstrate growth or excellence in an ORU Teaching Excellence Domain and who exhibit attributes such as a professional disposition, commitment to the University and community service, and commitment to academic and administrative responsibilities.
Professor Higeons has served ORU since 1979, rising to the position of Library Systems Administrator, and Head of Cataloging & Acquisitions. She is responsible for managing the library catalog which is the database of all library materials, as well as the collection management system. She also manages the acquisition of new library materials and contributes significantly to numerous aspects of the library’s operations. Having earned a Bachelor’s degree in History from Phillips University in 1979, she completed a M.L.I.S (Master of Library and Information Science) from the University of Oklahoma in 1992.
The Library team is grateful for Professor Higeons’ outstanding service to the University and pleased for her to be recognized for her commitment to excellence.
Professor Higeons commented: "“My thanks goes to those who have bestowed this award to me. It has been a privilege and an honor to serve ORU during this time. While I am working behind the scenes , it is nice to know that what we do impacts the students and helps them locate the resources they need to complete their research.”
