Scientific Style and Format
The Council of Science Editors uses CSE (formerly CBE) style and format called Scientific Style and Format: The CSE Manual for Authors, Editors, and Publishers. CSE style is used in biology and other life and physical sciences.
The Scientific Style and Format (SSF) Citation Quick Guide for the 8th edition, 2014, by the Council of Science Editors (U.S.), is available online and provides examples of "Citation--Sequence and Citation--Name" and "Name-Year" formats.
