Retirement of Janelle Sullivan
by Jane Malcolm, M.L.S. on 2020-04-17T09:49:00-05:00 | 0 Comments
Mrs. Janelle Sullivan, the Library’s long-time expert in original cataloging, retired April 16, 2020. The Library both mourns her leaving the team to which she added so much and also wishes her all the joys of retirement. As she explains in her Library Profile, her temporary hiring in the 1970s to help a rushed project in the Library led to her long career. Janelle became an on-the-job student of all the intricacies of professional cataloging for a progressive academic library, and she has continued to be our expert on tectonic changes now occurring in library information services as the rich traditions of Library of Congress cataloging meld with the infinite linking abilities of cyberspace. Mrs. Sullivan will be very difficult to replace, and we already miss her gentle, uplifting, and deeply insightful presence.
