How to Limit Database Results to Articles from Peer-reviewed Journals

Whether using EagleSearch or one of the EBSCOhost databases, limit results to "academic journals" and "peer-reviewed."

Sample Search Strategies for Journal Articles on Luke and Acts

To find articles on Luke in ATLA Religion Database (listed as AtlaSeries PLUS on Database List):

  • Do a subject search for opens new windowBible Luke, then limit dates to 1970 to present, peer-reviewed, full-text, English (and other languages you know) journal articles.
  • Then narrow the results by adding keywords related to your topic.

To find articles on Acts in the same database:

  • Do a subject search for opens new windowBible Acts and limit as above: from 1970 to present, peer-reviewed, full-text, English (and other languages you know) journal articles.
  • Then add keywords related to your paper topic to reduce the number of hits further.
