LIBBIS FOR NURSING STUDENTS

A variety of LIBBIs have been designed for nursing students to compliment different levels of research needed to succeed with assignments and in courses. Workshop attendees will complete nursing research with ease and efficiency, sample ORU nursing databases, and learn basic and advanced skills and tools for nursing research.

LIBBI-230NUR: PATHOPHYSIOLOGY

"Nursing Research Basics for Sophomores"
Required for Sophomore nursing students.

Objectives
After completing the LIBBI, you should be able to:

• Access ORU databases.
• Perform a basic search with limits.
• Identify differences in ORU nursing databases.
• Select relevant, useful databases for your research.
• Create citations with database tools.

LIBBI-305NUR: PATTERNS OF HEALTH AND ILLNESS

"Advanced Nursing Research"
Required for Junior nursing students.

Objectives
After completing the LIBBI, you should be able to:

• Perform a search using the MeSH.
• Use the CINAHL and MeSH tree hierarchy and subheadings.
• Use Search History to combine keyword and subject searching.
• Perform searches in OVID.
• Search and find nursing dissertations.

LIBBI-498NUR: NURSING RESEARCH

"Senior Nursing Research"
Scheduled by your professor; no need to sign up.

This library seminar offers students a review of nursing databases with their unique features, nursing dissertations, controlled vocabularies, MESH, advanced search expressions, and more. Special use of the ORU interlibrary loan services is covered. Provides a hands-on platform for questions and answers specific to student research topics.

Note: Upon completion of this sr. paper LIBBI, the Library will waive the $2.00 per Interlibrary Loan (ILL) item request fee. Student names will be sent to the Interlibrary Loan department and added to a Sr. Paper ILL Fee Waiver list.
